Plant revamping
GEM carries out revamping and modernisation of existing industrial machines and plants, with the aim of extending their service life and improving their reliability, functionality and maintainability.
Each project is defined starting from an analysis of the plant's condition and may involve electrical systems, automation, drives and supervision, preserving, where technically worthwhile, the parts that are still efficient.
It is an approach that makes it possible to update technologies and functions without necessarily replacing the entire machine or plant.
Obsolete and discontinued parts
Components that are obsolete or no longer supported by their manufacturer can pose a real risk to production continuity and make maintenance difficult.
GEM analyses the existing hardware and functions to identify compatible replacement solutions or migration strategies, assessing the electrical and software adaptations required.
The aim is to reduce dependence on hard-to-find spare parts and make the plant maintainable and supportable again over time.
New controller on an existing machine
GEM migrates and replaces control systems on existing machines, keeping the electromechanical structure wherever possible, along with the parts of the plant that are still sound.
The work covers analysis of the original operation, definition of the new architecture, development of PLC software and operator interfaces, integration with drives and field devices, and final commissioning.
Particular care is taken to ensure continuity of the machine's functions, while introducing more up-to-date technologies that are open to future maintenance and integration needs.
Upgrades for Industry 4.0 and 5.0 integration
GEM supports the digital integration of industrial machines and plants, including existing ones, through targeted work on automation, communication and data acquisition systems.
Solutions can include interconnection with company systems, collection and logging of process data, production and energy monitoring, and data exchange with PLCs, supervisory systems and software platforms.
